This annual, full-day conference is designed for both professionals and family caregivers. The aim is to share the best practices and creative interventions for the care, treatment and preservation of the quality of life of persons with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias.

About the Program
MORNING KEYNOTE
Anna Ortigara RN, MS, FAAN is a registered nurse who has focused her practice in the field of gerontology and Alzheimer's disease for the past 26 years.
She received her degree in nursing from St. Xavier College and a Master's Degree in Gerontological Nursing from Northern Illinois University.
She has worked with older adults in nursing homes, sub-acute care, adult day care, acute care, and home care settings. Ms. Ortigara served as the Associate Director of Long Term Care Accreditation for the JCAHO; was the Director of Residential Care Services for the Rush Alzheimer's Disease Center at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, and is currently the V.P. Campaign for Cultural Transformation at Life Services Network, Hinsdale, IL.
She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing; is an Associate Editor of Alzheimer's Care Quarterly; and is the primary author of LEAP for the 21st Century LTC Workforce.
Ms. Ortigara consults with MatherLifeways Institute on Aging and is a frequent national presenter, with many published articles on workforce and dementia care topics and four videos related to person-centered dementia care and workforce empowerment.
AFTERNOON PLENARY SPEAKER:
Barry Reisberg, M.D. is a psychiatrist, geriatric psychiatrist and psychopharmacologist who is a leading expert in Alzheimer's disease and related areas.
For the past two decades, Dr. Reisberg has served as the Clinical Director of NYU's Aging and Dementia Research Center and has directed, as Principal Investigator, U.S. National Institutes of Health sponsored studies of Aging and Alzheimer's disease.
He is Professor of Psychiatry at the New York University School of Medicine and Adjunct Professor at the Center for the Study of Aging at the McGill University in Montreal, Canada.
Dr. Reisberg's studies have resulted in descriptions of the characteristic clinical course of Alzheimer's disease. These descriptions in the form of scales such as the Global Deterioration Scale (GDS) and the Functional Assessment Staging (FAST) are measures widely used around the world.
He has also described many of the psychiatric symptoms of Alzheimer's disease and these descriptions, incorporated into his BEHAVE-AD scale, have been used to demonstrate the utility of drug treatments of these symptoms in worldwide studies.

Hotel rates
Single occupancy is $99 per night and double occupancy $99, plus applicable state and local taxes (currently 12%) in effect at the time of check in. Check-in time is 3 p.m. and checkout is noon.
Continuing Education
Registered Nurses, License Practical Nurses (RN/LPN's)
Application has been submitted to the CT Nurse's Association for the approval of continuing education credit (contact hours). C.N.A is accredited as an approver of nursing continuing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.
Social Workers
Application has been submitted of this program to be approved for Continuing Education Credit hours by the National Association of Social Workers, CT. If approved, this program will meet the continuing education criteria for Social Work Licensure renewal.
Physicians
Application has been submitted for this program to be approved for Continuing Medical Education credits. The Jewish Home for the Elderly is accredited by the State of Connecticut as an intrastate sponsor of continuing education.
